The Myth of Hanging Aids
Have you ever heard of Walabot DIY, a 3D- imaging sensor that allows homeowners and professionals alike to see behind the walls with an X-ray vision app of sorts? Many uses for this sensor were mentioned such as mounting shelving, locating a pesky leak, or drilling into a wall without the fear of hitting a pipe or electrical wire, and most sound very helpful for your DIY projects.
There’s one use, however, which we feel strongly requires a counter argument: hanging a wall gallery. There is a better solution and you have found it! Read on.
You don’t need a sensor. You don’t need the complex process of marking locations of studs, putting holes in your walls, and leaving tell-tale signs of your wall gallery design set up, additions, and removals of those art pieces and photos.
Instead, use a hanging system. A wall gallery hanging system is typically comprised of a track mounted high on the wall. From this track hangs cables or rods that follow down the surface of the wall. And photos, art, posters and mirrors, and displays of all sorts are hung from the cables/rods via hooks and fittings. These Tracks are most commonly installed at the intersection of the wall and ceiling

We’ve previously shared tips and ideas for hanging pictures and gallery wall layouts on our blog.
Creating a wall gallery becomes very easy when a hanging system is implemented, and includes many benefits.
- You can make changes to the layout and design at any time.
- It allows you to play with the actual framed objects during the "what if" stage.
- You avoid paper template cutouts alltogether, so there is no location transfer error.
- No nails are required/used so there is no damage to walls. Gotta love that, right?
