One of the challenges to picture hanging systems is dealing with the way most all professionally framed art are prepared on the rear side – with a hang wire that has extra length to it. When suspended in art gallery from a hanging system such a frame will hang with the top of the frame away from the wall. This extra hang wire length also can make it difficult to balance the object so it doesn’t tilt to the left or right.
This art gallery hook will reduce and minimize both of these avoidable dynamics.
The magic comes from the seven-inch wide shelf. This absorbs much of the hang wire slack by pulling the top of the frame back towards the wall and with the wide support of the hang wire, the frame stays in balance much more than with common hooks.
Simply slide the rod hook up onto any of our rods, just as you would with our other rod hooks. The two leaf springs, also found in our other rod hooks, will support the hook until the art is introduced to it. It is a one-handed operation. Next, allow the hang wire to settle into the “shelf” of the hook. The cam action design leverages the weight of the framed object to grasp the rod.
This is very easy to use. The hook will stay in place – without tools. To adjust the height of the object, temporarily lift the framed art off the rod hook, adjust the hook location and reload the frame back onto the hook.
This hook is always used when there is one rod vertically-centered behind a frame.
